How Much Should I Apply?

Existing Lawns

12.8 lbs per 1,000 sq ft
32 lbs per 2,500 sq ft

New Lawns

Seed: 32 lbs per 2,500 sq ft
Sod: 64 lbs per 2,500 sq ft

Landscaping & Gardens

Shrubs: 5 lbs per 100 sq ft
Trees: 5 lbs per inch trunk diameter
Vegetables & Flowers: Reapply every 4–6 weeks

Existing Lawns

Apply FloridaGreen® at 12.8 lbs per 1,000 sq ft or 32 lbs per 2,500 sq ft.

For best results:

  • Apply evenly using a broadcast spreader

  • Allow grass clippings to remain on the lawn

  • Water lightly after application

Florida & Michigan Use Restriction:
Apply 32 lbs per 8,000 sq ft, two times per year.
Do not exceed 0.25 lbs phosphate per 1,000 sq ft per application and 0.5 lbs per 1,000 sq ft annually.

Starting a New Lawn

From Seed

Apply 32 lbs per 2,500 sq ft and mix into top 1–2 inches of soil.

Then:

  • Follow seed manufacturer directions

  • Keep soil moist

  • Do not overwater

  • After 3rd mowing, apply an additional 32 lbs per 2,500 sq ft

From Sod

Apply 64 lbs per 2,500 sq ft and work into top 1–2 inches before laying sod.

VA Note: Apply 32 lbs per 2,500 sq ft. Rates not applicable in FL.

Shrubs and Trees

Shrubs

Apply 5 lbs per 100 sq ft.
Evenly spread and work into soil.

Established Trees

Apply 5 lbs per inch of trunk diameter.
Place along dripline, at least 1 foot from base.

Application method:

  • Dig holes 1–2 inches wide
  • 12 inches deep
  • Space holes 2 feet apart
  • Pour FloridaGreen evenly into holes

Newly Planted Trees

Apply 1½ cups per foot of tree height.
Mix into soil in transplant hole before planting.

Gardens and Flower Beds

Work FloridaGreen into soil prior to planting.

Follow initial application with a second application in 4–6 weeks.
